Day 3 Inauguration Week – “I” Disappeared into Love

January 20th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 13 Comments

I was wrong about big cities …

Today my past orientation of myself in relationship to big cities, governments, etc., disappeared.

As I walked back from the Willard Hotel after witnessing the swearing-in and speech by our 44th President, my “I” was gone.” We” were all celebrating and walking together as one crowd, one sea of humanity along 14th Street. It was as if there were an understood ground from which we were all now standing. There wasn’t one pair of eyes that was unwilling to meet mine. A knowing smile seemed to beam out of every face. I saw the ONE coming through the many. For a moment my eyes captured the statue of John Barry in Franklin Park, a Revolutionary Patriot. The statue seemed to exude living qualities even though he’s been dead for over 200 years, a shining glow was on it from the sunny sky. The historic buildings shone with the same happy vibration. Something was moving through animate and inanimate objects. Even though it was about 28 degrees, there was a warmth emanating … the power of love has great warmth.img_0232

I loved everybody. I asked a man next to me outside Starbucks if he wanted a picture together in the spirit of Obama’s vision, and with a knowing smile and nod we stood together, staring into the beautiful sun at the end of the inauguration day.

They say that real love isn’t looking into each other’s eyes, but rather looking in the same direction and seeing the same future.

Today, millions of people stood together, staring into the same future.

An exquisite experience, vibration and power transformed Washington, DC, the country and the planet.

My destiny brought me to DC to drop my small “I” and open up to a “WE” that was beyond anything I could have ever imagined.

Love from all of us in DC to you,

Audrey

  2. Martha Runnette says:

I had a similar experience of ‘we’ as I watched the ceremonies on television. As the cameras showed us the National Mall, I said to myself, “Wow, look at us. Look at US. There are so many of us there.” Those people were representing me with their attendance in person, and I was honored to be represented by them. Every single one of them — the old, the young, the black ones, the white ones, the Asian ones, the Christians, the Muslims, the Jews, the men, the women — represented me as a citizen of this country. As we step forward into this future, let us not forget that we are a ‘we’, and together we can and will forge a future that works for every single one of us.

    Audrey,
I ‘ve thought of you a lot during these last days, especially yesterday, and been a bit jealous of you for being there, and I wasn’t.
Still ,I’m so happy to have become a US citizen in September, and being able to cast my vote for this truly remarkable new president, Mr OBAMA.
I can honestly say, that for the first time since I came to this country I feel very proud to be an AMERICAN.
He is the blessing this Country needed, and the World needed.

Can’t wait to hear more about your visit to DC
    Love,
    Annette
